When Eric and I first came up with the idea for the PHONEY stickers, we intended to put them where there weren't any phones. Although causing someone to have to look at the sign twice and realize that they had assumed it said "PHONE" was our goal; we quickly decided that it wouldn't be funny if the person looking for the phone were having a crisis and the prank resulted in something terrible happening to them. So, the stickers wound up in places where there were publicly accessible phones located.
